What is Physical Activity?
First of all, physical activity is the movement of large muscle groups that result in energy expenditure. This includes active play, sport, exercise, organised and non-organised activities, walking and cycling.

- Incidental Physical Activity: this type of physical activity is less structured than planned activity. it can occur during daily activities such as housework or playing with pets.
- Structured/Planned Physical Activity: this includes exercise where planning is involved and requires physical effort to sustain or improve health and fitness. Organised sport is also a subcategory, where it is structured, involves skills, competition, has set rules etc.
- Regular Physical Activity: regular physical activity is is actively performed on at least five days of the week.

Sedentary means staying in the same place for a long period of time, while expending low amounts of energy. Examples of sedentary behaviour include; watching tv, using a computer and reading.
